Happy 2007! Jeff returned to Kenya after only two weeks in the States, which was a shock to the people that were left in charge. Back on the search for land. Calra Heads back to Kenya the 27th of this month.

Carla is back in Kenya. James is out of the hospital, but on meds. If fact, most of the household is on meds. Looking at land still. Hoping to start a new spring protection project soon.

Prayer request for baby James. Jeff took him to the hospital with convulsions.

Update on James.

Carla explains winter weather to Kenyans. Carla's had her first bought of malaria for the year. Things are looking good for the land. If all goes well, it could be ours by March! Jeff & Carla are ready for visitors from the States. Mama Carla has a reputation for taking no guff. The spring Carla mentioned last week will be started tomorrow.

Praying for rain. We have/had visitors from the States. Two had to return after arriving because of a family emergency, the third is here doing "healing services" with dynamic prayer. The medical ministry continues, though we're only taking the really serious patients. The spring will be finished in the next few days. We will be looking into a spring protection project in a slum area outside of Kitale. Keep praying for the land situation.

Carla's nose is sunburned and the Kenyan's don't know what a sunburn is. Their visitor, Marc, has been teaching the Kenyan's about the power of prayer by regular people. Carla has a new experience - she took one of the kids for an HIV treatment. They finished the spring this week. Jeff and Carla went the the slum area mentioned last week, to look into protecting the spring there. Carla ask's for prayer for "Betty". A 13 year old girl who was abandoned at the hospital three years ago.

James is learning to crawl and is teething. Hoping for rain so they can plant zucchini. Keep praying about the land. Everything is going good, just running on Kenyan time. Our Bible study group is now going through Acts, verse by verse. Continue to pray for Betty. James has just been admitted into the hospital with another seizure.

James received treatments for meningitis. Mark Stephen will be joining the group of kids that Jeff and Carla care for. He is severly sick and will be in the hospital for a long time, so Carla will be taking care of him there. Jeff is looking into working more closely with the hospital. Hoping to close on the land this week. Pray all goes as planned this time.

We have land! Ten beautiful acres of land! Mark Steven is makeing improvements, but is still needs twenty-four hour care. He only weighs 13 pounds. Carla is putting on shows at the hopital: a white woman caring for an unwanted child, a white woman mopping the hospital room floor, the white woman typing a newsetter on her laptop computer, etc... But this is also allowing Carla to witness to many of the families that share Mark Steven's room.

Mark Steven is improving every day but has a long way to go. Carla describes the conditions at the hospital: patient care, water, toilets, laundry & monkeys. Carla gives an update on Betty. Jeff and Carla got two new kids yesterday - both boys - Robert and Dennis. Jeff is starting work on the property.

2007-03-27
Steven is still improving, but still has a long way to go. Jeff & Carla are looking into hiring a nurse full time to care for Steven and any other illnesses that come up in the home. Carla received a visit from the Children's Officer. They were checking on Steven's progress, and them mentioned that they were trying to admit another abandoned baby into the hospital, but didn't have anyone to care for it. Yep, you guessed it, Carla took in another one. Emmanuel, Manny for short. Emmanuel received a blood transfusion that night, but the hospital was out of oxygen, so he had to wait until the next afternoon. The land is almost completely fenced. Next will be a pole building.

Mark Stephen and Carla are home now! Carla explains potty training in Kenya. Carla was able to attend Manny's burial. Jeff is gearing up to start building on the new property. He ordered 50,000 bricks, just to get started. Jeff's flagged down by the police and ordered to transport them and their prisoner to the jail.

Happy Easter Monday! Welcome to Thomas Baraka Picicci, five days old when he cameto the Home. Steve came down with a very high fever this week. Potty training is going well for some , not so well for others. Construction has begun on the storage shed. We've also started developing plans A, B, and C.

The electricity has been off more than on in the last four days. Rainy season is starting. Jeff and Carla take the kids on safari. A spring protection project was started this week. Jeff stopped to help a kid that was hit by a car. Jeff has a run-in with a monkey.
